What is nucleoplasty?
Nucleoplasty is a minimally invasive spinal surgery that aims to relieve pressure on the intervertebral disc. It is most often performed on patients whose herniated disc is pressing on nerves, causing pain or numbness, but the spinal structure has not yet been severely damaged.
How Is the Procedure Performed?
During the procedure, under local anesthesia and X-ray guidance, a special needle is inserted into the center of the intervertebral disc. Through this needle, an electrode is inserted into the disc, which reduces the pressure on the disc, removing its excess. This allows the release of nerve structures and reduces pain.
When is it worth choosing vertebroplasty?
This procedure is effective if the patient experiences moderate pain caused by intervertebral disc problems, but does not require full surgical intervention.
